A mother of two is concerned about reckless drivers blindly ignoring the three-way stop sign at the corner of Wege Street and Impala Road.
“It is as if drivers assume there is no stop street,” says Razia le Toit.
The stop lines no longer are visible, which could be the reason why drivers drive across this T-junction without stopping.
Approaching the stop street on this busy corner, they do not even slow down but instead speed on.
“On two or more occasions, I almost was hit by a vehicle coming from the left.”
Residents are concerned about the safety of their children who on occasion walk or ride their bicycles to school.
“What happened to the traffic officers who used to sit under the tree in the park and pulled over reckless drivers; where are they now?”
Other concerns regarding this T-junction is the poor lighting at night, faded road markings and the upside-down stop sign.
During an inspection the news’ witnessed five cars speeding across the T-junction within a matter of minutes.
“Can we do something before someone gets injured or worse – killed? I believe prevention is better than cure.”
