Officials recognised for excellence

The Krugersdorp Correctional Services recently held their Service Excellence Awards event.

It was an evening full of glitz, glamour and smiles when the Krugersdorp Correctional Services’ employees were given the chance to shine.

Over dinner and entertainment provided by the Krugersdorp Members’ Choir the awards were handed out to some worthy winners.

Gumede Sindile received the Good Governance Award that recognises individuals who are champions of efficiency and effectiveness; champions in preventing fraud and corruption, for ensuring transformation and promoting integrity in the department.

The Batho Pele Award, which recognises an official who excelled in customer care, service to the public, responsiveness and fairness, enhanced development and growth of people and demonstrated continuous commitment to excellence was awarded to Dianda Meyer who received this award last year as well.

Thabo Phalalo received the Masibambisane Award. This award recognises individuals who promote society’s participation in corporation in corrections, enhance social re-integration of offenders, prevent of re-offending, contribute to poverty alleviation, and restore community empowerment.

The Public Safety Award was handed over to John Nxamagele to give him recognition as he excelled in enhancing security, humanely treated the offenders, reduced escapes and improved compliance with the security standards policy, holistically for safe and secure custody for the benefit of communities, officials and offenders.

The Deputy Minister’s Award, an award recognising the work of a team, was handed over to Corporate Services after winning this award last year as well.This award recognises the team that has contributed to a positive, healthy environment and to the wellness of fellow employees, and has provided a positive role model of the ideal correctional officer to other officials and offenders.

The evening ended with participants indulging in their dessert and congratulating their peers on their great achievements.
