Tarlton Police arrested two suspects for common robbery, assault and bribery in connection with a domestic violence situation.
Two men aged 21 and 30 allegedly attacked a woman and her child and demanded money.
The victim had to vacate her house since her attackers kept threatening her and her child.
After the suspects were arrested, one tried to bribe an officer at the holding cell at the Tarlton Police Station. The officer warned the suspect about his actions. Instead of backing off, the suspect increased his bribing amount after which an additional charge was laid against the suspect.
He appeared in court shortly thereafter.
Station commander of Tarlton Police Station Lieutenant Colonel AM Molefi applauded his members for not taking a bribe.
He also emphasised that in his policing precinct there is no room for corruption.
He urged the community to report any form of violence against women and children as the country is approaching 16 days of activism against women and children.
