Apprehended for malicious damage

The complainant heard a loud banging on his window and then saw how his son was being attacked.

Two suspects have been arrested by the Kagiso Police earlier this month for, among others, malicious damage to property in Swanieville.

Solomon Sibiya said the complainant was woken up by a banging sound on his windows. He looked through the window to investigate.

He saw a group of young men inside his yard, armed with sharp objects.

“Soon afterwards they attacked and assaulted his son with their fists and feet. Seeing that his son was being attacked, the complainant approached the men and pleaded with them to stop,” said Sibiya.

“They stopped and dispersed but later returned. The windows of the complainant’s house were smashed as the suspects stoned the house.”

When the complainant asked them why they were attacking them, they assaulted him with various dangerous weapons causing him to sustain an open wound to his head. Sibiya said he was then rushed to hospital for treatment.

“The police searched and apprehended two of the suspects after the matter was reported.”

The two suspects appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court facing charges of attempted murder and malicious damage to property.
