Creative copper Christmas tree

If you don't have a Christmas tree, create one.

A brilliant display of great craftsmanship by two apprentices has become the centre of attention at their office this festive season.

This creatively crafted copper Christmas tree is showcased in the office of Tasol West in Monument, after the part-owner challenged the ‘appies’ David Mmirwa and Lucky Moruru to test their skills.

After completing their theory in solar installations at the WaterSmith Training Centre, the two joined Tasol in August to obtain practical skills in this field.

Here they learned soldering and welding skills.

Manager Steve van Zyl gave David and Lucky old copper fittings to demonstrate the skills they have learned and asked them to create a Christmas tree for the office.

They used a total of 22 copper pipes, copper fittings, Ts and elbows along with corner fittings.

“Within a day they presented their magnificent copper creation. I am so very proud of them,” Steve boasted.

The rest of the Tasol team then joined in the challenge by decorating the copper structure with fairy lights and tassels to complete the look.

“This is truly a brilliant piece of work,” Steve said.
