Post about alleged hijacking on social media not true
Be careful of what you read and post online, warns the CPF.
Terrible rumours that were spread on facebook about an alleged hijacking and the shooting of a toddler that took place on 6 December at the Voortrekker and Barrat Road intersection (also known as the weekend robot), sparked an investigation.
“CPF Sector 8 members immediately took action and investigated this alleged incident as it is of such a serious nature –however they could not find any truth to it. We immediately contacted the police and enquired among local community members as well as surrounding business that would have been aware of such a serious crime, to understand what happened, and if we could do anything to assist. The local hospitals also were questioned but without luck. Every possible avenue was investigated resulted in nothing,” said Henry Carson from Sector 8.
The news also attempted to get in contact with the person who originally posted this alarming message, but to no avail.
“CPF Sector 8 uses this opportunity to advise people to consider all facts before making posts on social media.”
