Drugs stashed on pavement

Drug runner in trouble after police had confiscated R2 000 worth of drugs stashed on a pavement.

CPF Sector 5 and police members found ten bags of drugs stashed on a pavement in Burgershoop over the weekend.

After a concerned resident witnessed a Nigerian national taking out a small bag of what was believed to be drugs and doing a deal she alerted the local Sector 5 Community Policing Forum (CPF) members.

CPF members along with Krugersdorp Police members met at the hot spot in Job Street to investigate the allegations.

The house is known for its alleged drug trading and is situated across the burned-down house. In the backrooms it has Nigerian nationals as occupants, known to police as drug runners.

The resident who sent a tip-off to the CPF described how she witnessed a bakkie stopping in the street after which the Nigerian national took out a small plastic parcel from under a container on the pavement.

He then took the small parcel to the bakkie for which he allegedly received money in return.

Police investigated the area and found 10 packets of crystal meth stashed under the container behind the wall at the pavement.

Through the swift reaction of the Sector 5 CPF and their cooperation with the police they managed to remove the drugs valued at approximately R2 000.

This is just another example of how the community, the CPF and police take hands to combat crime and drug abuse in Krugersdorp.
