Rest in peace Joscelyn
“Her contribution to the community will be remembered especially her focus on the disabled. “
” On behalf of the community of Ward 21, I extend sincere condolences to the family of Joscelyn “Josie” Cairns who passed away suddenly last month,” said DA ward councillor Lynn Pannall.
Joscelyn had been a resident of Panorama Estates, located in Ward 21, for many years. Although she was disabled and bound to a wheelchair, she drove her own car and relished her mobility and independence.
“She allowed us to view the world through the eyes of a disabled person and to have insight into the problems that disabled people and the elderly experience, especially when accessing public buildings and shopping malls.
“She contributed practical suggestions to our DA branch on how these could be resolved but, sadly, before these came to fruition, she took ill and died after a short period in hospital.
“Her contribution to the community will be remembered especially her focus on the disabled.”
Pannall is currently conducting a survey in shopping malls in ward 21 and in local government buildings in the municipal area into how access for the disabled and aged can be improved.
