New skate and scooter tracks bring fresh hope to Apple Park

Alongside new recreational facilities, weekly outreach continues to provide meals and support to more than 150 people.

Children in Apple Park were all smiles after the opening of new skateboard and scooter tracks, made possible through a recent community project.

The project was carried out by Toekomsvenster, a community initiative founded by Pastor Jannie Pelser. For several years, Toekomsvenster has established and maintained two parks in Apple Park , ensuring that local residents, especially children, have access to safe, clean, and functional recreational spaces.

“As part of the latest upgrade, a brand-new, expanded skateboard track was officially opened on Saturday, June 20. A scooter track, which had been completed a short while earlier, was also officially inaugurated. Thanks to the generous support of contributors, scooters and skateboards were purchased for the children to enjoy. The celebrations included hot dogs, ice cream, soft drinks, popcorn, and sweets,” said Jannie.

In addition to providing opportunities for physical recreation, Toekomsvenster also serves the Apple Park community through Sunday Gospel gatherings. During these services, Toekomsvenster and its partners provide meals to more than 150 people every Sunday, the majority of whom are children.

The project team continues to seek donations of sports equipment of any kind to further expand the recreational facilities. Donations are always welcome, as they help give the children of Apple Park the opportunity to develop their talents to the fullest.
