Christian group builds playground for Munsieville children
The Space and House of Praise Ministries took hands to create magic in Munsieville.
A group of kindhearted Samaritans came together to create some magic in Munsieville in the name of charity.
The Space is a Christian based group and was formed in February 2013 when five friends sat around a table in a restaurant and decided to make a change in their community.
Recently the group, which has since grown, visited Munsieville where they constructed a brand new play park for the children.
The new play park is situated on the premises of the new dynamic church, House of Praise Ministries (HOP) which plans to open a daycare which will accommodate the children of Munsieville.
“We felt like amateur boxers when the weekend kicked off as we dug holes and planted pipes and tyres, drilled holes, fastened nuts and colourfully painted the structures,” says Marius Schutte, from The Space.
Despite the hot sun and the hard labour, Schutte describes the weekend project as fulfilling and a good team building exercise.
“The most profound moment was on the Sunday when we went to HOP to attend the service and we were welcomed by a group of smiling children playing in the park.”
The build of the play park was the biggest project of The Space to date, and the group plan to take on a new challenge each few months.
Other projects The Space has been associated with the past few months include a Christmas shoe box project for the Jack Cotton- and Pionier old age flats, a presentation at The Bethany House Trust as well as a teddy bear project which was handed out at the Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital.
The Space invites persons between the ages of 20 and 35 to join them to make a difference in the community, by attending their weekly meetings on Wednesday nights where they visit and plan.
