Magalies police create awareness

Police took some time out from their normal duties to help create awareness about staying safe.

In between fighting crime and arresting criminals and putting them behind bars, the members of the Magaliesburg police took some time to create awareness in the community.

In March, social crime prevention coordinator Constable Rebecca Phithi, together with a team from Transnet took hands in the level crossing in Magaliesburg.

The team approached the community by issuing out safety pamphlets with information by the SAPS and Transnet.

“The awareness campaign was a huge success as more than 500 pamphlets were issued. The commuters and drivers were happy that police were giving them safety tips on various crimes and they were able to also ask questions,” explains Constable Rebecca Mokale.

Furthermore Mokale vowed that the community can look forward to many more awareness campaigns which will be conducted in the area.

“The community is sensitised to work very closely with the police as we are experiencing different crimes in our area,” Mokale concluded.
