‘You can run, but you can’t hide’

A warning to dagga users, as the police are on their tracks.

Criminals be warned as police are closing in to enforce the law.

Magaliesburg police recently arrested two suspects, aged 22 and 23 for being in possession of dagga.

Police then discovered that the suspects were wanted for possession of stolen property at the Orient Hills informal settlement which is close to Magalies.

Sergeant Minnies and Constable Makhatsh acted swiftly and managed to apprehend the suspects.

“These suspects were in possession of a toolbox with tools inside, clothes, two cellphones, four motor vehicle tyres with rims still fitted and also 11 dining plates that were stolen in a housebreaking and theft incident that occurred last month,” comments Constable Rebecca Phithi, spokesperson for the Magaliesburg police.

With the help of Warrant Officer Arends of the Gauteng K9 Dog Unit, the officers managed to trace the shoe prints of one of the suspects by means of a tracker dog from where the suspects were arrested.

The track led them to a property nearby where police discovered the stolen goods.

“The owner of the stolen property was with the police and positively identified his property and he was so happy with the police,” boasts Phithi.

Both the suspects briefly appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on accounts of possession of dagga and stolen property.
