Bags of care to help curb mortality rate

Krugersdorp's underprivileged mothers are blessed with bags of care.

A local charity organisation reached out to less fortunate mothers of the community with their bags of care.

iCareSA is an non profit organisation which was formed in February 2013 in the West Rand.

The organisation aims to assists in reducing the infant mortality rate in South Africa by addressing poor hygiene which they believe is one of the main contributing factors.

“We educate and assist any mother or youth to ensure the best possible result for her and her infant and assist the youth in making better decisions in life,” comments one of the executive directors Riana Scheepers.

The organisation is known for their ‘Care Bags’ which is one of the many services they provide to the community.

Other services provided include a nutrition program, teenage pregnancy program, drug addiction and empowerment programs.

Krugersdorp mothers have also recently been touched by the organisation. The bags are packed with necessities such as a facecloth, toothbrush, lotion, baby products and nappies.

The organisation has recently handed out a number of these bags at the maternity ward at Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital and donated a handful to the Mug and Tree Soup Kitchen in Krugersdorp West.

Furthermore the organisation aims to get involved with the schools where they plan to present their teenage pregnancy program.

Businesses in Krugersdorp are urged to take hands with iCareSA to assist in helping the community.
