A car collection to die for

Meet the local businessman behind the fancy car display in Krugersdorp.

Residents traveling along Voortrekker Road in both directions will spot a collection of luxury sports cars in an empty office building.

The modern office block which was completed about a year ago along with the beautiful cars belong to local resident, Deon du Plessis, a well-known businessman in Krugersdorp.

The idea for the new office block developed after he saw the need for upmarket business space in Krugersdorp.

“It is ridiculous how many residents travel two hours a day to work and back, as all the big companies are situated far away,” explained Deon.

He also wants to make it clear to the community that the office block is only to rent to one business at a time and will not be renting out the offices individually, as this is not what the building was intended for.

The building was however designed and built with a showroom and a main office space for Deon’s personal use only.

Because he owns a handful of luxury sports cars, he decided to showcase them one at a time on a weekly basis.

“This is a showroom not a salesroom, and it is intended for the petrol heads of Krugersdorp who enjoy these kind of cars.”

He describes his office space as his kingdom where he keeps all his racing awards, trophies and memorabilia.

His collection consists of a Ferrari, McLaren, two KTM X-bow models which includes a racing and street version, a T-Rex, Alfa 4C, Can-Am Spyder and a Rolls Royce Corniche convertible.

Deon says although the cars are not for sale, he is willing to showcase other cars of the community who has the same wow-factor as his collection and needs to be approved by none other than himself.

Other special cars the community can look forward to see in his showcase soon is a BMW i8 and a Ford Mustang.

If you have a car you would like to showcase, contact Deon at deon@bpt.co.za for more information.
