Elderly man who died on sidewalk’s family comes forward
The brother of the elderly man who died on a sidewalk in the CBD has come forward.
Family of the elderly man who collapsed and passed away on a sidewalk in the CBD came forward to positively identify him.
Following two reports published by the News, with the latest on 18 May, stating that the authorities are looking for any family or friends of the deceased, it has been confirmed by members of the Tower of Life that a family member has come forward.
The Tower of Life shelter in Krugersdorp confirmed that Johan Adolf Mostert, who was a regular at the shelter, passed away of a heart attack.
According to staff at the Tower of Life, Mostert started coming to the shelter a year ago, and wandered the streets during the day and later returned again for night fall.
With little information about the deceased the News and its sister publications sent out a photograph of Johan Mostert in attempt to find any family or friends. A day later, his brother came forward who confirmed his identity at the Tower of Life.
The community of Krugersdorp has since also decided to get involved with the funeral arrangements of Mostert.
The shelter along with stakeholders are planning to lay the 64-year-old Mostert to rest within the next two weeks.
