Pupil busted with dagga
Busted! Guess what this minor was hiding among lollipops.
A pupil from a local high school in the western part of Krugersdorp was busted with an undisclosed amount of dagga during recess.
After the pupil was found being in possession of enough dagga to be prosecuted, members of the Social Crime Prevention Unit was called to the school to attend to the minor.
According to the tip-off the News received, the pupil was found in possession of around six dagga ‘zolle’ hidden among lollipops, but it was not confirmed by police. However, another informant claimed that the pupil in actual fact was in possession of 16 packets of dagga.
The parents of the child were contacted before members of the unit apprehended the minor and confiscated the dagga.

“A case docket for possession was registered and an intervention will in the meantime be followed, pending the outcome of the criminal case,” comments Captain Appel Ernst on behalf of Station Commander of Krugersdorp SAPS, Brigadier Dalipkimar Baijnath.
Warrant Officer Robbie Pain from the Krugersdorp Social Crime Prevention Unit informs that this intervention entails the combined effort by the relevant school in the area, police, National Prosecuting Authority, parents of the offender and social services.
The school confirmed the incident, but did not want to comment on the matter.
“This informal intervention is not a sentence but rather a second chance to change the future of juvenile offenders. Krugersdorp Social Crime prevention has had sterling results with this programme. The minor is currently under parental supervision,” concludes Ernst.
