[PHOTOS] Community gives their time for Sarda

The South African Riding for the Disabled Association held their annual golf day at the Ruimsig Country Club.

It was a fun day with a twist when the South African Riding for the Disabled Association (Sarda) held their annual golf day at the Ruimsig Country Club.

While about 104 men were out on the green trying all they can to remain on top and showing off their golfing skills, around 160 women attended a Ladies High Tea event.

There the women enjoyed talks of various inspirational speakers, delicious sweet and salty savouries and lots of entertainment which was followed by hamper giveaways.

Ten holes were sponsored at this year’s four ball event and despite the cold and windy weather conditions, everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

“The day was a huge success!” said Nicole Christie, Sarda Gauteng’s branch secretary.

The day was organised by Sarda who rely solely on public donations and their own fundraising endeavors to be able to continue making a difference to special needs children.

Nine schools on the West Rand receive horse therapy from Sarda and to continue doing so they are always in need of financial support as well as volunteers to help them make a difference.

The disabilities some of the children have include cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Down syndrome, autism, fetal alcohol syndrome, mental retardation, visual and hearing impairment as well as genetic disorders.

Sarda, a registered non-profit and public benefit organisation that relies solely on public donations and own fundraising endeavors in assisting pupils from nine schools on the West-Rand with a variety of disabilities through horse therapy.
