[VIDEOS] Have the right fitness mindset

A local fitness coach reckons he has found the missing link in getting better fitness results.

Stian Weideman, a fitness coach and the owner of a local gym in Krugersdorp is on a mission to help as many people with their fitness goals.

During an interview with the News he explained that he has read and studied fitness books for over ten years and although he himself remained very positive in life he still had an emptiness inside of him.

“I could not understand what was going on. Once you are in that empty hole you feel things are never going to end and that you are going to remain in the dark – the kind of feeling I experienced after going through a recent divorce.”

This, he said, encouraged him to find solutions on what cause a person to feel this way and has led to the existence of FitMind, a mindset system he created that is developed to help people change their own life.

“Through years of studies I think I might have found the missing link into why people struggle to maintain their fitness goals. It is all to do with mindset and the life stories one create. It’s these stories that is holding one back from achieving sustainable success.”

Mindset is Everything

His vast fitness knowledge comes from years of being in the industry as well as opening his own gym seven years ago.

“I have been in the fitness industry for the past eight years where I have worked with youth, weight loss, general fitness and performance clients.”

During this period he has learnt that having a positive mindset is the only way to getting better fitness results. Stian said there is a mindset misconception where people are under the impression that it has got to do with will power and being positive.

“We are all making conscious choices and that is creating a strong ‘why power’. Reading daily motivational quotes and affirmations do help, but one need to also create strong goals such as writing it out and placing it on strategic places to keep the mind conscious of your goals.”

Stian said one also need to understand the power of the unconscious mind as this state of mind controls 95 per cent of one’s thoughts and actions seconds before you decide on performing such actions.

“It is therefore that the subconcious mind holds onto your stories and it is this that enables you to make and take decisions on a daily basis. This will in turn influence your thought and experiences on similar actions in future.”

Such actions, he explains, could be that people unconsciously tell you that you will never be able to lose weight or that you have worked hard to get a promotion at work but then never got it.
