Six arrested by tracer
Suspects were caught off loading stolen goods from a bakkie.
Six suspects were arrested for business burglary after a tracker signal led an investigator to a suspect’s house.
The suspects aged between 21 and 53 were arrested on 27 July in Rietvallei, Kagiso after they were caught offloading goods suspected of being stolen.
An investigator from Benoni employed by G4S Cash Security Company, was in Kagiso to investigate a case of theft when he picked up a trace from the tracker system.
“He further said that the tracker led him to a certain house in Rietvallei where from a distance he noticed a blue Nissan Hardbody parked and three suspects loading vehicle tyres on it. The complainant then blocked the entrance into the suspects’ house using his company vehicle,” Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso police station, said.
He called for more backup and five suspects, three of them males and two females were arrested and later detained at Kagiso police station. The suspects were found in possession of vehicle tyres and a tool box that was stolen in a business burglary in Chamdor sometime ago.
An additional five computers were also found hidden in the suspects’ bedroom during the search. The sixth suspect was arrested later after his accomplices pointed him out to the police.
“All six suspects are expected to appear in court soon after an intensive investigation by police will be completed,” Sibiya concluded.
