Christmas came early this July, benefiting organisations that make a difference.
Proving you can never be too old to give back, Harveston Retirement Village hosted a Christmas in July gala dinner in aid of the South Africa Riding for the Disabled Association (Sarda) branch in Gauteng.
Sarda’s aim is to provide the opportunity of therapeutic and recreational horse riding for disabled people so that they might benefit in all aspects of their mental, physical and social lives. The Ruimsig branch exists as a result of teamwork with all instructors and helpers volunteering their time and knowledge.
Harveston Retirement Village has been a big supporter of Sarda since its beginning in Gauteng.
The hall was beautifully decorated with hand crafted snowflakes, fairy lights and Christmas trees.
“The guests were transported into a winter wonderland,” Sarda branch secretary, Nicole Christie, said.
Harveston Retirement Village handed over a cheque of R18 000 to Sarda.
“This wonderful donation was received with great appreciation, as the non-profit organisation receives no regular financial assistance and relies on their own fundraising endeavours,” Nicole explained.
“All of the donations were raffled and brought in a large amount of revenue for Sarda.”
