A LifeLine to women this month

LifeLine continues to build up the community, one project at a time.

Krugersdorp residents are invited to join in on a night of fun and music in aid of providing a lifeline to the community.

LifeLine is looking forward to hosting a fundraising night which promotes a world without rape and violence.

LifeLine South Africa is a service organisation, responding to emotional trauma and individual crises, with a view to providing emotional support.

The aim of the night is to raise funds to continue providing a service to the communities in need.

The fundraiser will be held on 30 September at the Barnyard Theater in Cresta where the audience will be taken on a trip through space and time in the 70’s and 80’s when glitz, glam and some of the greatest pop tunes ever written emerged.

Funds raised on the night will be utilised to continue presenting various educational programs and support systems to the community.

LifeLine provides victim empowerment programs to abused women and other abuse forms victims.

They also offer face-to-face counselling sessions offering awareness, educational and support talks and workshops which are specifically focused on HIV/Aids, gender, trauma, suicide and emotional wellness.

Community projects in rural areas that focuses on empowerment and de-stigmatisation is a program which was started in 2009 in Munsieville namely the Dialogue-to-Change concept which allows communities to take collective responsibility for identifying and responding to the inherent possibilities with own experiences.

LifeLine West Rand also recently trained peace promoters in April who work in Kagiso voluntarily to empower the community and contribute to community upliftment projects.

Since these projects have been successfully implemented in other areas that include Tarlton and West Village.

Other projects include the Thursdays in Black campaign promoting a world without rape and violence and various other school projects.

“We invite businesses of Krugersdorp to be a part of the fundraising event by means of enjoying a good night out in aid of charity or by sponsoring prizes for the night. Besides, caring can be so much fun,” Karina Swart, Director for LifeLine West Rand, said.

The organisation will also join forces with the Krugersdorp Police’s Family Voilence, Child Abuse and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit during this Women’s Month to empower women by teaching them self defense in different communities around the greater West Rand area.
