On Tuesday, 17 August, 24-year-old Sibusiso Mfazwe was sentenced by the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court to 10 years imprisonment for murder.
Mfazwe was found guilty for the murder of Sibonisani Mpi at Solly’s Tavern at Smokedown.
On 4 March both the deceased and Mfazwe were arguing when Mfazwe stabbed the deceased multiple times in his chest and back. When the police arrived at the scene, Mpi had already passed on.
“Detective constable Letsoko Matshele was assigned to investigate the matter, spending sleepless nights trying to solve this murder,” Constable Lucky Matome, police spokesperson, said.
The Station Commander of Tarlton police, Lieutenant Colonel Molefi applauded Constable Matshele, witnesses and the team from the National Prosecuting Authority for securing this conviction.
“Removing Sibusiso Mfazwe from the community was necessary and a great achievement,” he said.
