A good observation made by a member of a local Community Policing Forum (CPF) sent patrollers in the direction of a stolen bakkie.
A member from the Sector 3 CPF noticed two armed men fiddling with a bakkie in the driveway of a house in Voortrekker Road and immediately contacted the members of CPF 4 to follow up.
When the CPF 4 members arrived at the given address the members learned that the owner of the house saw two male suspects fiddling with the bakkie on his CCTV feed but was too scared to approach them as they were armed.
The members found pieces of the dashboard lying around in the bushes not far away since the bakkie was already stolen and decided to alert Thompsons and EPR Security to be on the lookout for the bakkie.
It is believed the suspects were trying to remove the tracker system from the bakkie.

A few minutes later, while patrolling the Monument area, one of the patrollers spotted a bakkie parked in a conspicuous way outside the entrance to the underground parking of the Anthos Shopping Centre.
Upon investigating, the patrollers confirmed that the bakkie was the same one seen by the home owner on his CCTV footage earlier that night.
The owner of the bakkie went to the police station to open a case of theft when he was alerted that his bakkie was already found.
The vigilance of the CPF member of Sector 3 along with the quick response of the Sector 4 members and Thompsons and EPR Security helped to recover the vehicle quickly.
