Owner of the nightclub, Lime Lite Pub and Grub, for the past 11 years, Wilma Sammons, spoke candidly to the News and said she arrived at the club after the incident had happened at around 9.45pm.

Upon her arrival she asked a friend what happened when they explained that Eskteen had gotten out of hand and allegedly grabbed a woman, who is a regular customer, by the hair.

The bouncer then jumped in and allegedly punched Eskteen. Some witnesses claimed Eskteen was punched in the face while another claimed he was punched in the stomach and ribs.

Eksteen then fell to the floor after which he was helped back to his feet and escorted to the door.

Rumours in the bar suggest that Eksteen was shocked by a stun gun before being escorted to the exit where he was then told to leave the premises.

It is alleged that Eksteen then went after the bouncer who allegedly slapped Eksteen a number of times before he fell to the ground for the second time.

It is believed that Eksteen had been lying outside the entrance for more than an hour before he was declared dead on the scene.

Local CPF members along with back up arrived on the scene and placed Eksteen in a recovery position before performing CPR on him when he started losing his pulse.

In the meanwhile Netcare 911 was called to the scene who took over from the CPF and placed him on a drip minutes before he passed away.

“Bystanders witnessed the members giving the man CPR without checking if he had obtained injuries to his ribs,” Sammons explained.

She claimed witnesses saw that Eksteen was only hit twice that night.

Sammons said the bouncer, which freelances there, immediately handed himself over to the police and gave information about the incident.

“Despite the tragedy, the bouncer did his job. My condolences go out to the deceased’s family. We would like to ask the community not to link this incident to the club as the circumstances got out of hand,” Sammons concluded.

The News contacted Eksteen’s wife, Kariska, who was still very emotional regarding the incident and is in search of the truth.

The News is still awaiting to view the CCTV footage of the incident as promised by Sammons.

However, there is no CCTV footage available of the outside entrance of the club where Eksteen was assaulted a second time.
