A staggering amount of dagga was confiscated by the local police at the Sterkfontein Cemetery over the weekend following an observation made by a vigilant worker.
Two suspects, one being a graveyard employee, were arrested for being in possession of three black bags full of dagga.
“The two suspects were seen jumping the wall at the graveyard, when another employee alerted the police,” Krugersdorp police station spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, said.
On arrival at the scene, the two suspect were placed under citizen arrest by members of the local Community Policing Forum who handed them over to police who arrived on the scene minutes later.
The dagga was discovered under a pile of stones and confiscated.
Plastic bags found with the three bags of dagga suggest the suspects were in the process of packaging the dagga in order to be sold.
