CPF Sector 7 urges voters to remain vigilant on Election Day

Local patrol teams join forces with police to safeguard polling stations and warn against opportunistic crime.

Voters and residents are urged to remain vigilant throughout the day while heading out to vote, as opportunists may seek to disrupt proceedings.

According to CPF Sector 7 (Rangeview and parts of Noordheuwel) member Mbulelo Mthethwa, CPF members have been patrolling in various areas and voting stations to ensure that the day runs smoothly for residents and IEC officials.

Patrols active across stations

“We prepared for election day weeks prior with the police and some security companies as to what our mandate is and how we should proceed with the day,” said Mthethwa.

“Our advice to residents, not just of CPF Sector 7 but other sectors, is to remain cautious as criminals may seek to take advantage of the day while people will be preoccupied with voting and standing in long queues.”

He also noted that gate motor theft and vehicle theft have surged over the past few months, advising residents to lock their vehicles and report any suspicious behaviour.
