Toddler flung from vehicle in accident

Three vehicles were involved in an accident last night which resulted in a toddler being flung from one of the vehicles.

Emergency services, Community Policing Forum (CPF) members and First Aid Respondents (FAR) were called out to the ‘weekend robot’ intersection following a serious accident late last night.

The accident involved three vehicles and saw CPF and FAR along with emergency services rush to the Voortrekker-and Barrat Road intersection at around 11pm last night.

In the accident a toddler was found flung from one of the vehicles.

The intersection was closed off by patrollers to allow emergency services to work under a controlled environment and to prevent any further accidents or injuries.

Both the mother and the toddler were taken to hospital for further medical treatment while the other vehicle’s occupants were treated on the scene for minor injuries sustained in the accident.

The Krugersdorp police were also called to the scene who took statements from all parties involved.

At around midnight the road was reopened after it was cleared from all hazardous materials and the vehicles were removed.

“Thank you very much to Sector 8 CPF and the FAR for your prompt response and dedication. Thank you to police, ER24, Fire and Rescue and Netcare 911 for your assistance and professionalism,” Lindi Breed, Sector 8’s Vice chairperson said.
