A 28-year-old male was arrested for defrauding his 45-year-old cousin of over R20 000.
Hekpoort Police arrested the suspect at the Onka Grand Palm Lodge last month.
“According to the complainant, he was in a meeting discussing his strategic plan for the company. The suspect overheard them and offered to make arrangements on his cousin’s behalf. The suspect gave the complainant the quotation of R23 800 but the complainant later noticed it was fake,” Constable Gloria Maswanganye, Hekpoort Police spokesperson said.
The complainant further alleged the suspect used the letter head of the lodge repeatedly to defraud the complainant.
The suspect was arrested and appeared in court. The case was postponed pending further investigations.
