Once unemployed, now he paints numbers
This entrepreneur believes his numbers could help save lives.
Vincent van der Westhuizen, 40, did not sit back and wait for work to fall in his lap, instead he took a different approached that paid off.
After being unemployed for nearly two years, Vincent packed the boot of his car and started going from door to door to sell his concept of marking houses by painting numbers on the driveways.
“Since I have been unemployed I have freelanced here and there but the ‘paint by numbers’ concept has always kept me going,” Vincent explained.
On and off for the last three years, Vincent has been painting street numbers, but has recently decided to pursue it full time after realising the importance of property being properly numbered.
He believes if all the houses in Krugersdorp are properly marked, it would make it much easier for emergency services and even police to react to call-outs quicker and might not get lost so easy.
The biggest threat to this is the fly-by-nighters who do not use the correct material to paint these numbers.
“Because I use road marking paint mixed with reflective material it makes the numbers visible by night. My aim is to not only help number the properties properly but in this manner help police and emergency services in this matter,” Vincent concluded.
