49 medals for Alma Mater

40 Alma Mater Akademie athletes participated in the national championships for private schools. It was hosted by the South African Christian School’s Sports Association (Saccsa) and the Gauteng region came second overall.

Alma Mater took home 49 medals, which comprised 18 gold, 16 silver and 15 bronze. Danielle van Wyk was the senior female victrix ludorum and Izack Redelinghuys the junior male victor ludorum.

12 athletes qualified for Saccsa national colours in the following items:

• Carmen Cloete: shot-put

• Danielle van Wyk: shot-put, the javelin and 200m

• Stephanie Ferreira: 100m, 200m, long jump and shot-put

• Kelvin Gravett: high jump

• Qailah Adam: 400m

• Ryan Thodlana: 100m and 200m

• Ane Sherman: 150m and 1 200m

• Eben Luyke: discus

• Reba Motsoetla: 100m

• Zack Redelinghuys: 600m and turbo javelin

• Dianique Bezuidenhout: high jump and long jump
