Warning: large hail and lighting forecast
The South African Weather Service gave a lighting and hail forecast for parts of Gauteng.
Dust off your umbrellas and hide your breakables (and your car) – large hail is coming.
The South African Weather Service has warned that parts of Gauteng will face extreme thunderstorms and possibly large hail today. In parts of Limpopo hail as big as tennis ball have been photographed and posted on Facebook.
Strong, possibly damaging winds, have also been forecast.
According to AccuWeather, rain will fall from approximately between 10am and 3pm and there is a 40 percent possibility of thunderstorms.

Liberty Mutual Insurance provides a few safety rips in an event of severe thunder, lightning and hail storms:
• If hail is predicted, it is important to get animals to shelter, as they are especially vulnerable.
• Close all doors and secure all windows.
• Do not handle any electrical equipment or telephones, as lightning can follow the wire. TV sets are particularly dangerous at this time.
• Avoid bathtubs, water faucets and sinks, because metal pipes can transmit electricity.
• If high winds are predicted, identify the safest rooms in your house in which to weather the storm, preferably internal rooms with no windows, and wait out the storm there.
