Losing is actually winning

This resident's secret to losing weight and keeping it off is quite simple.

Madelaine Johnson learned that with great dedication, hard work and a lifestyle change, losing can actually be winning.

For years this mother and business woman felt uncomfortable with herself until she learned the secret to her weight-loss success.

After trying nearly every diet on the market, crash dieting and even starving herself, Madelaine found real success when she embarked on a lifestyle change.

“My whole life changed when I started a weight-loss programme,” Madelaine, who has made it to the semi-finals in this year’s Weigh-Less Woman and Man of the Year competition, said.

Besides the programme, she believes that weight-loss is a journey and not just simply a solution.

It was in February 2014 when she decided that she had to make a change, and has since then lost over 20kg and has maintained it.

With the lifestyle change she also joined a local gym where she feels that the support from the other woman keeps her motivated to stay in shape and healthy.

“I have gained so much in losing weight, I more self confidence, a better self esteem and loads of energy,” said a bubbly Madelaine.

She is hoping to be announced as one of the finalists for the competition which will be announced later this month.

“I never thought that losing weight would be such an emotional roller-coaster. I can actually now wear the nice clothes with confidence instead of just wishing that I could fit into it,” she concluded.

Madelaine’s greatest aim is to motivate other woman to take care of themselves and to follow in her fit new footsteps.
