Arrested for stealing chickens and eggs

Police arrested a suspect for stealing eggs and chicken worth R4 000.

Hekpoort police arrested a 20-year-old male for stock theft earlier this week.

It is believed the suspect gained entry to the Magalies Egg farm at Plot 22 in Doornbosch where he stole chickens and eggs on 15 November.

“The complainant alleged that his employees worked on cage 2 the previous day. The following day, at about 8am, the complainant went to open the same cage for the employees to start working when he noticed the cage was damaged,” Hekpoort police spokesperson, Constable Gloria Maswanganye said.

After investigating, the complainant found that chickens and eggs to the value of R4 000 were stolen.

When the complainant checked the CCTV footage, he recognised the suspect who is not a worker at the farm.

The complainant immediately notified the police who arrested the suspect. He was detained at the Krugersdorp police station and is due to make a brief appearance in court.
