Donovan praised for his dedication
A successful race as thousands were raised in aid for charity.
The extreme heat and challenging route did not stop this group of cyclists to raise thousands for charity.
The Friends of the Bethany House Trust under the guidance of Mariena Hough, once again put together a team of cyclists who participated in the 94.7 Cycle Challenge on Sunday 15 November.
Cyclists faced difficult conditions this year, especially with the extreme heat and severe frontal wind for the last 15 to 20 km of the race.
It was a successful day as the team raised more than R80 000 for the trust’s specialised child protection programmes.

“Donovan Blake, you are the star of the Bethany House 94.7 race. Donovan completed the race in four hours 28 minutes with a fixed gear bicycle. Donovan challenged Bethany House supporters to motivate him with donations to ride this bike at the 94.7 Cycle Challenge. Thanks so much, Donovan, you are a real sport and your dedication to the trust is appreciated dearly,” Mariena said.
An additional R13 000 was collected at the jersey hand-over celebration hosted at the Bethany House in Monument two days prior to the race.
“Congratulations to all the Bethany House participants, you are all winners.”
