Senior citizens treated for a morning
Grain Care once again successfully held a fundraiser and treated the elderly for a breakfast, ending their year on a high note.
With their annual senior breakfast, Grain Care once again showed that they really care about the community.
After a successful recent fundraiser, the Grain Care Trust hosted a complimentary senior citizen breakfast at Monte Vista Venue.
About 420 elderly Krugersdorp residents attended the event. The trust is a non-profit organisation that was established between Unigrain, Grain Carriers and Grain Logistics.
“It was a dream and a token of our thankfulness to our heavenly Father to create a welfare organisation within the grain sector to be functional with its own identity. We want to make a difference – in the heart of a child, of the elderly, within a family, for the hungry and anyone in need,” their website reads.

At both their fundraiser and the senior citizen breakfast, organiser Mariaan le Roux wanted to let the less-fortunate know that someone really cares and wants them to enjoy the little joys in life. With entertainment by Touch of Class, no one was left bored.
With the R75 000 raised at the fundraiser, after raffling various products, artworks and even a home-baked cake in October, Grain Care plans to utilise the funds towards a wide spectrum of projects such as children homes, needy schools, elderly homes and family Christmas projects to name a few.

At the breakfast the senior citizens were reminded that age does not matter and left with an inspirational quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, “Beautiful young people are acts of nature, but beautiful old people are works of art.”
