Hijackers corner man on side of the road
Hijackers are still on the loose after a vehicle was recovered in Munsieville.
Krugersdorp police followed up on a hijacking complaint and recovered the stolen vehicle from Munsieville.
The 61-year-old hijacking victim stopped on the side of the road with the intention to purchase wheel rims from a street vendor in Tom Muller Street in West Village when he suddenly noticed two unknown suspects approaching him.
Two seated occupants parked the white Ford Focus they were travelling in next to the victim’s vehicle.
When he returned to his vehicle to fetch his wallet, an unknown male suspect pointed a firearm at him and demanded the keys to his vehicle before driving off.
The vehicle was later recovered in Munsieville with the help of the police’s K9 Unit.
A stolen laptop and cellphone were also recovered from the vehicle.
“No injuries were reported and no arrest has been made at the moment. We are appealing to the community to be alert when they stop on the road and to report any suspicious people or vehicles to the police immediately,” Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, said.
