Krugersdorp residents voice frustration over local government failures

Locals call for political accountability and higher voter turnout as service delivery concerns continue to mount.

After the local government elections on November 4, Krugersdorp residents shared whether they believe the local government has failed them and how the situation can be resolved.

Resident Moleko Mokoeni believes the local government has failed the residents of Krugersdorp, as it has shown no progress and service delivery remains poor.

“The only way we can see changes is if there is only one party in power; this united government does not work. The local government has failed us. Nothing is being done, and people are doing nothing,” he said.

Resident Wayne Swanepoel believes the local government has failed in some ways, having failed to meet promises regarding safety, environmental issues and service delivery.

Calls for accountability

He concluded that the only way it can improve is for people to get out of their houses to vote, and for the local government to keep its promises.
