[PHOTOS] Art galore at old court

The Mogale City Exclusive Visual Arts Exhibition is under way again.

Clinking glasses, singing choirs and the smell of paint marked the opening of the annual Mogale City Exclusive Visual Arts Exhibition on 26 November.

Local artists, young and old, were given the opportunity to exhibit their artwork at the Mogale City Museum in Commissioner Street for the festive season.

If you would like to see what Krugersdorp’s local artists have to offer, you can visit the museum until 23 December and even buy some the unique pieces of art.

The official opening of the exhibition saw traditional dancers performing, David delivered a speach and the Mogale City Choir filling the old court with music.

“Art is everywhere. Everyone might not be an artist, but we use artistic mediums every day. We write, draw, create and inspire every day,” David said.

Refilwe Motlhasedi, a member of the Thusong Centre for the Mentally Challenged, also exhibited his pots for the second time at the museum.

“We want to empower local artists and uplift those with disabilities,” Godfrey Naledzani, heritage, arts and culture specialist in Mogale City, said.
