Local ceramist wins another award
A local ceramist won yet another award for her unique pottery.
It’s not just something Demi Moore did in the movie Ghost, ceramics is a real art form that is alive in Krugersdorp.
For 20 years Dale Lambert has been crafting unique ceramic pieces and selling them from her studio in Muldersdrift. She regularly is awarded for it.
Dale won a Regional Ceramics Exhibition Award for Excellence in Ceramics in October. This is not the first award Dale has won at exhibitions. She told the News about a special award she received three years ago.
“I received the Premier Ceramics Award, which was an honour to me,” she said.
Only registered ceramists qualify for these awards and Dale said the judges evaluate artists’ technique and style when choosing a winner.

“I focus a lot on form and colour,” she said.
Dale started her ceramics career by studying for six years under Kim Sacks, a renowned South African ceramist. Thereafter she opened her studio, Ceramics Studio where she teaches the art of ceramics as well as craft her own artworks.
“I hope the art form will grow in the future. That is one of the reasons why I teach it. I believe people should appreciate the beauty of handmade products such as ceramics,” she explained.
Ceramics and sculpting should not be confused, Dale said, because they are two very different things. Ceramics focuses on pottery and other articles made from clay and hardened by heat.
