Celebrating World Aids Day at Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital.
In line with World Aids Day, management of Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital joined the battle against HIV/ Aids by hosting an awareness campaign.
Hospital departments such as the Aortic Valve Surgery (ARV), also named the Phedisong Clinic, hosted it’s annual public awareness campaign on 3 December.
“The purpose of this event was to remind the community that despite the changing times, HIV/Aids is still prevalent, to give moral, spiritual and social support to those who are infected and affected by HIV and to celebrate victory over this pandemic,” said Phendani Thwala, HIV/Aids, Sexually Transmitted Infection and Tuberculosis (Hast) project manager.
Activities included lighting candles, a sermon, motivational speeches to encourage disclosure, education in the form of role play by the peer educators, demonstrations of the new flavoured condoms and presentation of gifts to children who are on highly active antiretroviral therapy (Haart) treatment, especially those who are orphans and lost their parent/s to HIV/Aids.
“Yusuf Dadoo thanks all partners, sponsors and the community members who made the project a success.”
Puseletso Mabidikame, communication officer for Yusuf Dadoo, also wishes the greater community of the West Rand a blessed new year.
