Residents soak up the sun on casino’s ‘beach’

Parents get your kids out of the house and onto the beach.

The Silverstar Beach Festival is the place to be, offering exciting activities for kids by day and a beach paradise where adults can wind down at night.

Until 20 December, residents can enjoy sand, sun and plenty of fun at the Silverstar Beach Festival, with delicious seafood, cocktails and beach activities perfect for the holiday season!It’s not every day that residents can enjoy the carefree beach feeling – soft sand between your toes, an excuse to put on your bikini, sipping cocktails while relaxing in the sun….but for a few special days this December, you can do just that as Silverstar Square.

Parents, get your kids out of the house and onto the beach, where they can enjoy sand castle building, tug of war, hoola hoop and ice-cream eating competitions as well as an inflatable waterslide, mechanical surfboard, and more.

The beach is transformed at night, when you can enjoy scrumptious seafood, drinks and good company at lowly lit tables. Entertainment will include limbo competitions, fire poi, and a Calypso band to complete the beach vibe.

Silverstar, being the number one entertainment destination on the West Rand, is known for offering fun for the whole family and this beach experience is doing just that!

The opening day of the Beach Festival, Friday 11 December, was a big highlight on the Silverstar calendar. Members of the media and celebrities, got the first taste of the beach and had an absolute blast. That evening, visitors were in for an extra treat as Charlize Berg and Jay led a beautiful Christmas Carol concert on the beach.

As part of the Beach Festival, Silverstar restaurants are featuring stunning seafood offerings befitting the beach theme. Billy G is doing a seafood paella, Publicity is doing prawn baskets, seafood pizza is available from Vigour & Verve, as well as calamari, fish and chips, and more of your favourites. Two beach bars are available on the Square throughout the day and evening offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments.

Shane Collinson, Director of Operations and Complex General Manager – Silverstar Casino, is thrilled with the outcome. He shares: “Coming from Durban, the beach is a big part of my life and I was SO excited to bring the beach to the West Rand suburbs of Johannesburg, for everyone to enjoy. Seeing everyone having a great time on our beach is absolute magic. There are still a few days left, so come and experience it for yourself.”

Children’s activities run from 10am to 6pm daily and the adult set-up from 6pm to 10pm every evening. Entry is free.
