Three arrested in one suburb since new year

They were all arrested in the Wentworth Park area.

Sector 4 Community Policing Forum (CPF) members were quite busy at the start of the year. In Wentworth Park three suspects were already apprehend by the CPF this year.

Late Tuesday (5 January) afternoon a sector 4 member noticed two men climbing over the wall of a business in Barret Road.

“They were in possession of items taken from the premises and were carrying the items towards the railway station,” CPF Sector 4’s Facebook post read.

The member called in on the sector radio to report the suspicious activity.

“The hand held radio system is the most valuable tool in our fight against crime,” the report added.

When several sector members and patrollers responded to the call, it set out in a chase for the suspects.

“The suspects tried to flee the scene but through the efforts of the sector members and security companies who form part of our initiative, both men were arrested.”

In another incident, early on 1 January, a patroller spotted a broken window of a home in Wentworth Park. More patrollers were called when there was a sound of another window breaking.

“The patrollers realised the burglar was most likely still inside the house,” another report on Sector 4’s Facebook page read.

CPF cordoned off the area and investigated neighbouring properties where they eventually found and apprehended one suspect.

The CPF explained that by the continued and combined efforts of the members and security companies they will keep on working to make the community a safer place.
