Plastics collector hit by security vehicle
Plastic bottles and caps were scattered along Voortrekker Road after the man had been hit by an allegedly speeding vehicle.
A pedestrian was taken to hospital in a critical condition after he allegedly was hit by a speeding vehicle close to Burger Box last night (24 January) just after 7pm.
A Sector 8 Community Policing Forum (CPF) patroller along with a Dowry reaction officer rushed to the scene on Voortrekker Road minutes after the accident had occurred.

The pedestrian, who was hit by a Thompsons Security vehicle, was stabilised on scene and transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries, which included a serious head wound, and neck and head trauma.
The victim is a so-called trolleypreneur who collects plastic items from dustbins. Plastic bottles and caps were scattered across the accident scene.
According to a witness, the security vehicle was travelling at high speed when it hit the pedestrian.
