[VIDEO] CPF on high alert after heavy rainfall
Heavy rainfall takes its toll on Krugersdorp's roads.
Members from various Community Policing Forums around Krugersdorp had to pick up the pieces after the heavens opened up with heavy rainfall yesterday afternoon.
Late afternoon traffic quickly came to an almost standstill following many road closures and stationary vehicles around town.
The train bridge above Chamdor Road at the Barrat Street intersection was quickly closed off from both directions by the Sector 8 CPF members with the help of the West Rand Disaster Management team.

Motorists sat in a long queue to cross the intersections with limited views and flood waters running down the roads.
Fortunately no-one was seriously injured as Sector 5 assisted with a total of three bumper bashing accidents yesterday afternoon during the heavy rainfall.
The Jones Street bridge, in Krugersdorp West, also posed as a threat and motorists were advised to drive safely and slowly over this section.
Sector 3 had their hands full as stones and sand washed down Van Riebeeck Road into Schoemann and Viljoen Streets, north of Krugersdorp.
Patrollers bared the cold and wet conditions last night where they cleaned up the road with shovels.
The heavy rain washed sand and rocks, which were dug up to make way for new sidewalks, onto the road.

A section of Van Riebeeck Road was also closed off yesterday afternoon after three vehicle’s, one of which was a Mercedes-Benz, got stuck.
The CPF advises residents to find alternative routes around these problem areas in extreme and heavy rainfall weather conditions.
