Expect police presence while you shop
Police presence will increase over the weekend for a National Awareness Operation.
The South African Police Service will be executing a National Awareness Operation at shopping malls across Gauteng, including Cradlestone Mall.
Even though police will not set up information points, shoppers can approach police and ask them questions, said police spokesperson, Constable Lucky Matome.
“We are the police for the people, so we will answer your questions regardless of where you find us,” he said.
Shoppers can expect an array of blue-clad officers patrolling malls today. The operation kicked off on Thursday (31 March) and finishes today (2 April).
“This operation hopes to create awareness of police presence,” police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya said.
“The Krugersdorp Cluster had about 70 members participating on Thursday where vehicles were stopped and searched.”
The police aim to educate shoppers in order to decrease the possibility of becoming a victim of crime and it also provides the police officers with general training.
