MotoGP's Binder secures 9th place in Malaysian Grand Prix

The Red Bull KTM racer overcomes front-tyre wear at Sepang and sets his sights on Qatar this week.

Brad Binder secured a top-10 finish at the Malaysian Grand Prix this past weekend at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit.

The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider finished ninth after starting 15th on the grid.

Battle on the track

Binder, who had surged into the top 10 through the first laps of the Sprint on Saturday, October 31, was up to 11th on this occasion. He also stayed consistent despite front traction issues and finished ninth, his team said in its press statement.

After finishing the race, Binder described it as a long one.

After his first four laps, he said he started losing the front, which led to understeer in the extended corners.

“It was really tough until the rear started to fade, and then I could brake pretty well. I had some fun battles, but I thought I had the pace to do much better today. After four laps, I saw we were in trouble, and I had to be smart to bring it to the end,” he concluded.

Binder is currently 12th in the championship standings and will race again at the Grand Prix of Qatar this weekend, November 6 to 8.
