What’s on this weekend in Krugersdorp?

You can choose between relaxing in the countryside or watching big screen rugby at a local school.

This weekend you can drive to Magaliesburg and learn more about Alpacas, or test your endurance at a Fun Run in Krugersdorp West. On Saturday, between 8am and 3pm, Pro-Practicum School is hosting a Fun Run and Market Day in aid of the school and all of Krugersdorp is invited.

A wide variety of activities for both young and old will be available. The Fun Run over either 10 or five kilometres, will end with medallions for the first 40 runners who reach the finish line. Every runner will receive a gift. There will be live music, a talent competition, big-screen rugby, stalls, water slides and jumping castles. Contact Esmarelda on 076 135 7548 for more information.

Also on Saturday, the South African Alpaca Breeder’s Society will host their second national Alpaca open day on Alliepad Alpakkas farm, six kilometres from Magaliesburg from 9am to 4pm. Tours will be held every hour during which you will learn more about these interesting animals, their habits, their fleece and the products made from their wool and felt. You will be able to interact with the animals, feel the softness of their wool and attend demonstrations of how the wool is spun and how felt is made from the fleece. An organic market, selling food and drinks, will be held in the shade of the trees on the farm and you can bring your own picnic blanket. Remember, no cooler boxes are allowed. The GPS coordinates for the farm are -26.007351, 27.553336. Contact Louisa on 083 651 9005 for more information. Entry is free.
