A taste of wine, a taste of giving
Ripple Reading's annual wine auction saw great food, wine and fashion come together for one great evening of entertainment.
Ripple Reading, a registered non-profit organisation which focuses on literacy and leadership development of children within disadvantaged communities, hosted its annual wine auction at the My Table Restaurant in Lanseria on Saturday (7 May).
“Reading is everything and everywhere; not knowing how to read can be destructive,” Riana Robinson, the founder of Ripple Reading said.
When talking about the guests who attended, Riana said that it thrills her that individuals are so generous and willing to be a part of changing the future of South Africa.

“Our annual wine auction is an upmarket event where wine lovers and connoisseurs participated in the auction. We invited specific guests that appreciate fine wine and most of our financial supporters, which include corporate and private business people,” she said.
With the master of ceremonies and auctioneer, Joff van Reenen, a two piece bespoke wool suit and Vriesenhof Grenache 2014 wine was sold for R19 000.
“Joff is arguably South Africa’s most experienced, competent and entertaining auctioneer and is in demand internationally,” Riana added.
The proceeds raised at the auction will go toward the Ripple Reading Literacy Program.
