Four unknown suspects allegedly attacked and robbed a traffic official.
The official parked his vehicle in front of a well-known licensed tavern in Kagiso on 21 May just before midnight.
“As he was about to enter the tavern he noticed four armed suspects jumping out of their car and charging at him. The suspects demanded cash and his car keys,” said Kagiso Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya.
The official resisted and during a struggle one of the suspects fired a shot, wounding the official.
He was also sustained injuries to his mouth.
“The suspects further searched the official and took his cellphone and cash. They fled the scene in their getaway car.”
The official managed to drive himself to the police station where he laid a charge of armed robbery.
“Anyone who can assist with information about the suspects’ whereabouts are requested to call the police. Rest assured your information will be treated with strict confidentiality.”
