Hijackers leave victim naked in veld

Two hijacking accomplices are still at large after abandoning the driver in an open field.

A suspect has been arrested after hijacking a vehicle and stripping the driver of his clothes before fleeing.

The 24-year-old alleged hijacker was arrested in Roodepoort on 22 May following an armed hijacking incident in Kagiso.

“The complainant alleged that he’d parked his car in the street next to his place in Zulujump. Suddenly three suspects, one of whom was armed, appeared out of nowhere, pointed a gun at him and demanded the keys,” Kagiso Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya explained.

The armed suspect ordered the complainant into the back seat next to an accomplice, who then searched the complainant and took his wallet.

He then stripped the complainant of his clothes before they dropped him off in an open field in Mindalore.

“Roodepoort police received a complaint and followed the information that led to the successful arrest of one suspect. He was caught while his two accomplices are still at large.”

The suspect was detained at Roodepoort Police station where a case docket for possession of a hijacked vehicle was registered.

“We are appealing to members of the community with information that could lead to the successful arrest of the other suspects to contact us.”
